Eid-el Fitr: FCT SWAN rejoices with Muslims faithful; prays for Eagles' success in Russia
As Muslim faithful all over the world observe Eid-el Fitr celebration, Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), FCT Chapter, Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka has congratulated sporting professionals especially members of the association within the Nation’s capital and the country at large.
Comrade Chidoka whose message was contained in a statement issued in Abuja noted that since Salah festivity signalled the end of Ramadan, it is expected that much needed accelerated growth and development of Nigerian Sports would be inspired in line with solemnity of the just concluded fasting exercise.
The FCT SWAN Leader however used the opportunity to call on well meaning Nigerians to continuously turn on their prayer sentinel for Super Eagles ahead their group opening game against Croatia and other group matches at the ongoing World Cup tournament in Russia.
His words; “I greatly rejoice with Muslim Sports Writers especially our members who are already in Salah mood. They have kept faith by showing spiritual commitment all through the Ramadan period. I pray Allah grant you speedy answers to your prayers.
“May the success of the celebration bring massive good luck for Super Eagles and victory for all as they face Croatia during their opening match on Saturday,”
On World Cup slots, the newly elected SWAN Chairman urged members to remain calm as the recently inaugurated leadership is making frantic efforts in establishing better contacts for future sporting events after promises by various Stakeholders didn’t yield expected results.
Nigeria are in group D alongside Croatia, Iceland and Argentina. The global soccer fiesta which kicked off on Thursday witnessed 5-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia by host, Russia.
