According to the general coordinator of the support groups, Bayo Olanlege, it became necessary for genuine stakeholders, footballers, fans and investors in the fortunes of the state football to throw its weight of supports behind the candidacy of Fayemi, who they describes as a tested and trusted lover of Ekiti youths and its potentials.
" As genuine stakeholders and investors in the fortunes of Ekiti sports and the youths, we know the right person to help revive the fortunes of sports in the state. And that person is Dr. John Kayode Fayemi," the youthful sports administrator stated.
He continued; " We can recollect some of his outstanding contributions to the development of sports in the state. During his tenure, he employed 29 coaches into the state sports council and that is unprecedented in the history of the state.
" As governor of the state, JKF, funded the Ekiti state Governor's cup for 4 years and with N5m as the yearly prize money. He also sponsored the state principal's cup for secondary schools in the state and with N1.5m as prize money annually, " Olanlege explained.
He enthused confidently that a victory at the polls and eventual return of Fayemi as the state governor would bring about a massive rebirth and growth for football in the state that has continued to suffer neglect in recent times.
