El Clasico build-up: Barcelona team news, injury, and suspension list

El
Barcelona has a chance to climb to the top of the LaLiga standings in Saturday's El Clasico matchup against Real Madrid. Barcelona will surpass Atletico Madrid by avoiding a loss against Los Blancos on Sunday night, as Atletico Madrid are not in action until Sunday night. The Catalan giants warmed up for this match with a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid on Monday evening, with Ousmane Dembele scoring the game-winning goal late in the game. Here, BSNSports rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Sergi Roberto was not risked against Valladolid earlier this week, despite returning to training following a lengthy injury layoff. If he makes it through training this week, however, the versatile Spaniard should be among the replacements.

Fati is still recovering from the severe knee injury he suffered in November, and recent rumors say that he will need surgery for the third time, so he won't be back anytime soon.   After sustaining a knee injury against Eibar in December, Coutinho has yet to play in 2021. The Brazilian has since revealed that he will have surgery to address the problem, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

Neto, the backup goalkeeper, sprained his ankle during a training session last week, ruling him out of the Valladolid contest. The backup goalkeeper is unlikely to make it back in time for this game.

Ronald Koeman, like with Sergi Roberto, decided not to take any chances with Pique in Monday's game against Valladolid. The veteran would be considered for a starting spot against the club's bitter rivals, but it would be shocking if he did not make the substitutes' bench. The Blaugrana have no suspended players.
