Enyimba In Make Or Mar CAF Confederation Cup Clash In Benghazi
By Muyiwa Akintunde
Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu came to the rescue of Enyimba by providing a chartered flight to Libya on Tuesday night to enable Nigeria's remaining representatives in continental competition honour their date.
CAF had earlier declined the team’s request to have the fixture rescheduled as they encountered flight and visa complications.
It's a crucial encounter for Enyimba in Benghazi. Having crashed 0-3 away to ES Sétif in Algeria 11 days ago, the Aba side risk being eliminated if they lose tonight.
Hosts Al Ahly Benghazi's first international match in their home country this season ended goalless against South Africa’s Orlando Pirates two Match-days ago. That should give Enyimba some hope that they could even go a gear further.
Pirates have established a three-point cushion at the top of the table and have one match to end the group campaign - that against hosts Enyimba.
Al Ahly will go ahead of Enyimba on the log if they win this game, making the People's Elephants clash against Pirates titanic.
Enyimba had won the group A first leg against the hosts held in Nigeria with a 2-1 victory while tonight tie starts 10 pm Nigeria time
