Enyimba Refute Raja Casblanca Abandonment Claims By Admin The Wednesday’s scheduled semi-final duel of Enyimba and Morocco’s Raja Casablanca tie has run into controversy following accusation and counter-accusation by both teams. Raja Casablanca reportedly arrived Port Harcourt at 2am on Monday 12 hours ahead of the 2pm arrival in Lagos that the team had informed Enyimba’s chairman on telephone. Consequently, there was no Nigerian official in Port Harcourt to receive the team in Port Harcourt. On this, Raja Casablanca cried foul, claiming they were not warmly received in Nigeria. But in a petition to CAF’s Secretary General, on Monday evening, Enyimba are also raising counter accusation which also borders on moral suspicion on why the Tunisian match officials flew in the same Air Maroc flight which had no scheduled landing in Port Harcourt, but still landed there before taking off to Lagos for the normal landing. The Tunisian match officials that accompanied the Raja team to Port Harcourt are Youssef Essrayri, Yamen Mallouchi and Ayman Ismail According to petition signed by Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Enyimba Chairman, the club averred that the “complaint of Raja is an attempt to embarrass our club because Raja themselves are in violation of the rules of the competition after failing to provide us with details of their arrival. “We had reached out to them requesting their travel itinerary but we were not offered this information. Instead, the Chairman of Enyimba received a call on Sunday from Morocco that the team was landing in Port Harcourt at 2:45pm on Monday. “We swung into action immediately and informed our protocol officers to be on standby. However at 5 am this morning, the Chairman got notice of their presence in Port Harcourt already. “This came as a shock because arrangements had been made to receive the team at 2:45 pm, not am, based on the call received. An official of our club was dispatched to the airport immediately and on getting there, he learnt of the team’s arrival by Air Maroc to Port Harcourt, which was by itself a strange landing.
