Ese Brume shatters Chioma Ajuma 25 Years Record By Uche Dozie Ese Brume jumped a distance no African woman has ever reached before shattering Chioma Ajunwa's 25-year Long Jump record, leaping an astonishing 7.17m (1.1) to win this event at the Chula Vista Festival, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Having moved into third at a fourth round Season Best of 6.88 (1.1), Brume flied out to a world leading and African Record of 7.17 (1.1) to snatch a late win in a frantic last round in the women's long jump. The World Championship bronze medalist made jump attempts six times before reaching the landmark time. Four-time World champion Brittney Resse also raised her game to reach a last round 7.10 (2.3) for runner-up and Chantel Malone narrowly missed her recent own NR at 7.07 (2.0) to place third behind. Nigerian's former track Queen, Chioma Ajunwa's African Record at 7.12 (0.9) which gave her gold at the Olympics in Altanta in 1996 has now been broken with Brume's feat.
