Esperance Pen Down Okpotu As Possible Replacement For Junior Lokosa

By Editor

Anthony Okpotu may be rewarded for his goals for modest Tunisian club US Monastir with a big move to Esperance, who have let go one-time NPFL hotshot Junior Lokosa.

Okpotu’s goals have catapulted Monastir into title contention and has already been linked with Egyptian champions Al Ahly.

Junior Lokosa and fellow Nigerian, Samuel Avati, will have to start shopping for new clubs after Tunisian club Esperance deemed them surplus to requirements.

Media reports suggested coach Moine Chaabani told Esperance he will not work with Lokosa and Avati.

Lokosa, 26, was top scorer of the Nigeria league three years ago when he scored 18 goals for Kano Pillars.

The striker has been troubled by injuries.

Avati is a 20-year-old right fullback who was on the squad to last year’s U23 AFCON in Egypt.

He was scouted by Tunisia-based midfielder Moses Orkuma.
