Etebo Doubtful For AFCON, Out For 5 Months Sampson Adedeji The hope of Nigeria's Super Eagles and Watford FC midfielder, Etebo Oghenekaro to appear in the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been placed under a big doubt following the injury he sustained in the club last premier league match against Newcastle United, BSNsports.com.ng can report. The workaholic midfielder joined the Hornets this summer on loan from the Championship club Stoke City on loan and he has been an integral part of the team. Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr on Thursday released the list of players that will face the Central African Republic in the matchday 3 and 4 of the qualifier with Etebo name missing out. Ahead of the next round of matches in the premier league Watford FC on Thursday confirmed that Etebo has tore a quad muscle and will be out for 4-5 months. "Midfielder Peter Etebo tore a quad muscle towards the end of the Newcastle United game last weekend and is expected to be out for between four to five months," the club said. The announcement from the club means Etebo may not be fit enough to be available for the African cup scheduled for January in Cameroon.
