European Roundup: Lazio stun Inter as Haaland send Dortmund top

After a week's rest in the five major European leagues due to the International break, club football returned on Saturday with a chunk of games taking place in Germany, Spain, England, and France.

There was a mouthwatering clash between Inter Milan and Lazio which was won by the latter with strikers like Erling Haaland continuing with their scoring streak in the race for the European golden boot.

But just how did the games staged on Saturday in the leagues go? 

AC Milan came from two goals down to beat Verona 3-2 to climb above Napoli at the top of Serie A.  Verona raced into a surprise 2-0 lead after just 24 minutes courtesy of a Gianluca Caprari strike and a penalty converted by Antonín Barák.

Milan was to reduce the arrears through Olivier Giroud's header on the hour before two goals in the space of three minutes from a Franck Kessie penalty and an own goal by Koray Günter turning the game in Milan's favor.

In the same league, Felipe Anderson and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored late to complete a 3-1 comeback win for Lazio as Simone Inzaghi suffered his first league defeat as Inter coach.

Ivan Perisic’s penalty put Inter in front at the break but Ciro Immobile leveled in the second half with his own effort from the spot.

In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland scored twice on his return from injury to help his team beat Mainz 3-1 and go top of the Bundesliga table.

Ten-man Real Sociedad beat Mallorca 1-0 to move to the top of La Liga with substitute Julen Lobete scoring a dramatic late winner. Levante and Getafe both remain winless at the foot of the table after they played out a goalless draw.
