Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is being linked with Steve Bruce's job at Newcastle United.
The Telegraph says two former England midfield colleagues could be set to battle it out for the post.
They claim that Steven Gerrard, 41, would be a popular choice - having won the Scottish Premiership with Rangers last term.
The former Liverpool man is happy in Scotland, they add, and would take some 'persuading' to leave Ibrox for the Premier League.
Lampard, 43, is also mentioned as holding a 'definite interest' in the post.
But his experience is questioned, despite having led a young Chelsea side to a top four finish in his one full season as a Prem boss.
