Mikel, Trabzonspor Path Ways

Former Nigeria's Super Eagles midfielder and captain John Mikel Obi and Turkey Super Lig side Trabzonspor has agreed to path ways on a mutual consent.

Former Chelsea midfielder joined Trabzonspor last summer on a 2 year deal after he ended his stint with English championship side Middlebrough, BSN Reports.

Mikel played active role as the team top the Lig table at the expense of more established teams like Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Galatasaray.

The club announced the contract termination on Tuesday but no reason was given for the act.

“The professional football player agreement between our company and John Obi Mikel on 30.06.2019 start date 31.05.2021 has been mutually terminated. With a mutual termination agreement, the football player gave up all his forward-looking receivables,” the club statements reads

Mikel who has played in Tianjin Teda of China and Middlesbrough of England since he left Chelsea made 19 appearances for Trabzonspor.
