Ex-international Reveals How Nigeria Can Progress In 2022 World Cup By Sampson Adedeji With few month to the start of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, former Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Jonathan Akpoborire has opened up on how Nigeria can do better at World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The Germany based former player was part of Nigeria team en route 1998 world cup, participated in the qualifiers but was unable to make it to the competition proper. While speaking to ElegbeteTV, Akpoborire said present crop of players in the Super Eagles are good enough to win next African Cup Of Nations and also break record at the next World cup but proper things are needed to be done. " Nigeria can always win African Cup Of Nations because we are good for it and we have talented players, it's remained how we used them in plating major roles. To win AFCON for Gernot Rohr is a possibility but is beyond it. It's for the world cup, there is record to be broken and qualify for quarter final or semi final. But the problem is if we can change, the problem we encounter at the last world cup is our coach because our team was hopeless. If we play against an European team that can pass the ball well, we will have problem. I think this guy (Rohr) has done is bit in handling our national team, we need someone bigger than him for us to progress," he told ElegbeteTV. Nigeria's Super Eagles will open it's world cup qualifying campaign against Lone star of Liberia in September 2021.
