Exclusive: Why I Dumped Nigeria For Djibouti - Ex-3SC, Rivers United Striker By Omolagba Oluwayemi Former Lobi Stars, Shooting Stars and Rivers United striker, Akinbinu Samuel has revealed the reasons he chose to represent Djibouti national team, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Samuel in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports said he switched to Djibouti national team because he thinks he might never get an invitation from Nigeria before his retirement. He said, "I had that believe* that my turn would come to feature for Nigeria Super Eagles but when the opportunity came here, I had to use it. "And with the situation in Nigeria now, you can never tell. Many young generation are rising in the country so when the opportunity came I had to grab it. Not everybody will play the Super Eagles and so anywhere you have the opportunity you have to take it and that's the reason I accepted this not that I don't believe I can play for the Super Eagles. [caption id="attachment_56917" align="aligncenter" width="678"] Samuel Akinbinu[/caption] "Since I started kicking the ball at the age of 5, my dream has been to play for the Super Eagles and when the opportunity came for me here in Djibouti, I grabbed it." Talking about life in Djibouti, Samuel responded: "Its not been easy so far but I thank God." "Since I joined the club, I became used to the players in through the league and when I received the invite, I was happy although its not been easy but you know when a Lion is in the jungle, he has to survive and that's what have been doing here." "The injury I had was so tough on me but I thank God I'm much better than before since I came back from the injury. Everything is going on well with me and I'm very sure soon things will change and I'll be on top by God's grace. "And for Djibouti national team, all I can say is that the team is coming up gradually. Rome wasn't built in a day and that is what is happening to Djibouti national team at the moment. "Before now we don't get to this stage of the World Cup qualifiers but now we are here. "This is the first experience for us and I'm certain with what I'm seeing at the moment, in the next 5 years, Djibouti will be among the best in the continent. Djibouti are currently bottom of Group A with zero points in the CAF zone of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and are set host Algeria on Friday 12th of November, 2021 before traveling to Niger on Monday 15th for the final match of this qualifiers series
