Ezeji Explains Reasons Nigeria Teams Perform Poorly In The Continent By Sampson Adedeji Former Nigeria's Super Eagles striker, Victor Ezeji, has explained the reasons Nigeria Professional Football League clubs always struggle to hold their own in the continent, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Just like last season, four Nigerian clubs started the CAF inter-club competitions but only two are still in contention with none of them in the Champions League. Their performances in the continent continued to generate discussion among Nigeria football followers across the country and beyond. The former Enyimba forward said, continuous changing of coaches and players at the end of every season remained major issues in the Nigeria clubs. He explained during a radio interview conducted by Isaiah Akinremi on Impact Business Radio 92.5FM, he said stability is required for Nigeria team to perform well. "It has been a systemic problem because you cannot continue at the end of every season to sack coach and bring a new coach all in the name of playing in the continent . It doesn't work like that, team need structure, culture, tradition and mode of working . A team will qualified for the continent and at the end of the season you will go for best legs at expense of the players that qualified you forgetting that if they are not good enough they won't qualify you. "Imagine Kano Pillars appointing a coach a week or two to the match, how do you expect the team to perform? Because the coach will come with his own philosophy, you can't expect him to start from where other man stopped, it might not be his trend . This things keep affecting the teams and the club management are not listening, you can't be appointing coaches every year . "We have to be patient and the team need to have a philosophy, we have to bring players from the youth teams into the team," he said. Ezeji was part of Enyimba international team that won the CAF champions league in 2003.
