In preparation for the FIFA U-20 Women world cup in France, the Falconets played their first friendly match in Austria two days after leaving Nigeria.
Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s football team, Falconets were in a killer mood earlier today when they thrashed an Austrian top division women football team, Berhheim FC by three goals to nil in a friendly match in Vienna.
Enterprising midfielder, Adebisi Saeed put the Falconets ahead in the 38 minutes of the game while an under pressure player of Berhheim scored an
own goal in the 43rd minutes to give the Nigerians the advantage in the first half.
The second half was a bit tougher for both teams but the head Coach Christopher Danjuma tutored team still found the net when attacker, Gift Monday scored the 3rd goal in 80th minute.
According to Austria camp source, Danjuma fielded his regular players with reliable goalie, Chiamaka Nnadozie preferred to man the goalpost just as Onyinyechi Okeke was called up in the second half to replace Nnadozie. Also Glory Ogbonna replaced defender Joy Ndidi Duru.
They will continue their preparation in Tirol, Austria with two training sessions on Tuesday before taking on a yet-to-be-named opponent in a friendly.
Falconets will play one more friendly match in Austria before leaving for France on August 2, 2018.
