Falconets To Camp in Austria For World Cup Preparation

Falconets
By Admn The female youth national team, Falconets will fly out in the coming week to Austria for the next stage of their preparations for this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, and will spend 11 days at the same base the Super Eagles used before heading out to Russia 2018. Though the Eagles eventually failed to go beyond the group stage at the male senior FIFA World Cup, the Falconets will hope for a different and better outcome from their build-up programme at Bad Tatzmannsdorf, from where they will travel to France on August 1. The Falconets, who have been training in Abuja for close to three months, will open their campaign at France 2018 on August 6 against three-time champions, Germany at Stade de Marville in Saint-Malo. This year’s competition will be Nigeria’s ninth appearance, ahead of which the team will jet out on July 20 for the final phase of preparations. The team will fly out from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to Germany, from where they will connect another flight to Austria. The Falconets will spend 11 days in Austria, where they hope to acquire enough training to better Nigeria’s best spot of runners-up on two occasions, but first have to overcome Germany, China and Haiti in Group D at the championship in France.
