Falcons Boss Danjuma denies Rift with out-of-favor Striker Oparanozie

Super Falcons interim coach, Christopher Danjuma has said that there is no rift between him and the former captain, Desire Oparanozie.

Danjuma denied the reported rift between him and the player when granting an interview with Brila.net.

Danjuma replaced former Head Coach Thomas Dennerby following the Swede’s resignation, but his decision to reissue the team’s captaincy and further drop Oparanozie for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament against Ivory Coast has raised concerns.

Among other things reports have suggested that the Coach, acting on behalf of higher powers within the NFF, who blacklisted the France-based player.

But the Coach has denied he’s serving any puppet master or the existence of any rift with the 25 year-old.

“I never had issues with Oparanozie as many people had highlighted,” Danjuma said.

“Ironically, in 2015 Oparanozie bought a flight ticket with her money from France to come meet with us in Congo for the qualifiers (Olympic).

“That’s the greatest sacrifice a player would do for her coach; using her own money to purchase ticket, and of course I refunded her. So to say I have issues with her does not arise,” the Coach concluded.
