FAME Foundation Signs Three-year Partnership With FCT FA For Football Development By Admin A Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) Fame Foundation, has signed a partnership agreement with the Federal Capital Territory Football Association, FCT FA for the development of girl child in football. The Memorandum of Understanding, MoU for the three-year partnership was signed at the FA’s Play Ground at the Area 3 Complex, Abuja on Monday. Explaining the rationale for the agreement, the founder of the Fame Foundation, Aderonke Bello Ogunleye said the partnership was to promote girl child football empowerment and development through skills and training. “I am happy and appreciate the FCT FA for partnering with Fame Foundation. “The MoU is about our initiative called ‘Play It, Dream It’. We are using football as a tool to empower the girl child and right here at the Area 3 Football Pitch we will be having a monthly football youth camp for the girls. “Every last Saturday of the month we will pick them out of the IDP. We will also empower them and give them skills. We will also teach them leadership skills and how to be economically independent. The importance of education and dangers of child marriage are also part of the training programmes we have for them “Basically, it is just to empower the girl child using football,” she concluded. On his part, the Secretary, FCT FA, Mr Usman Haruna Ilerika, said the partnership is heard towards promoting girl child football development in the federal capital. “Fame Foundation approached FCT Football Association seeking for partnership to take girl child out of poverty and IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps. The want to use football as an avenue to be able to energise these children who have the talent and ability to play football. The chairman of the FA is very happy over the partnership. “It is a partnership MoU we are signing so that we contribute as FA for the success of their football engagement,” he said. The partnership will last for three years but renewal is performance based. The FA will facilitate the programme schedule by providing them with the training pitch every last Saturday of the month. As well as provision of cones and balls for them to train with.
