The Nigerian clocked the time, shaving a hundredth of a second off her previous Personal Best to win the first heat of the women's 200m at the NCAA East Preliminary in Florida and progress to the quarterfinals. She finished ahead of her LSU teammate Symone Mason who was inspired to second in 22.75s (PB). Six athletes performed inside 23 seconds at the preliminaries and all were on legal winds as Anavia Battle was fastest out in 22.58, close to her recent Personal Best, from heat 2 (1.3) and Tamara Clark was slightly slower in 22.62 in heat 4 (0.7) while Ofili's winning 22.63 at her heat was third best overall. A close runner-up was Symone Mason in a PB of 22.75 for fourth overall with Jessica Gbai third in a big PB of 23.09, where Cambrea Sturgis and Jayla Kirkland turned in 22.78 Season's Best and 22.85 as top two in heat 6 (1.1). Last week, Favour Ofili had finished second at the SEC Championship to win silver in the women's 200m sprints with a wind-aided 22.16s (+4.1) behind Tamara Clark who went home with Gold with a time of 21.89s.
