FCT Awards; Athletes Smile To Bank As Dilichukwu Bows Out

The Ministry of Federal Capital Territory on Thursday gifted out cash reward to the athletes who won medals in the 2018 National Sports Festival, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
FCT Administration fulfilled the promises made two years ago as gold medalists received Three hundred thousand (N300,000), silver and bronze medalists were awarded Two hundred thousand (N200,000) and One hundred thousand (N100,000) respectively.
Elated athletes, who were at the Old Parade Ground Sports Complex, the venue of the event said that the cash award which comes at the right time following economic hardship in the country will go a long way in motivating them to perform better in the next National Sports Festival billed for Edo state.
The outgoing Director, FCT Sports Department, Dilichukwu Onyendinma in her last assignments after 35 years of meritorious service was filled with joy, fulfilling the promises that the athletes were paid on her send off day. Luka Istifanus was handed the baton of leadership in the FCT Sports Department.
FCT Minister of State, Ramatu Tijjani who was represented by Special Assistant on Social Development, Simisola Ayoade encouraged athletes representing FCT in subsequent outings to always give their best adding that FCT will continue to reciprocate with cash and other rewards.
The host of 2018 National Sports Festival, FCT finished seventh on the medals table with 21 gold, 9 silver and 24 bronze. The best overall performance for the nation's capital in the National Sports Festival.
