Chairman, Federal Capital Territory Football Association, Alhaji Abba Muktar Muhammed has said that the nation's capital football governing body should be an example of emulation for other State Football Associations in Nigeria and beyond, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Muktar stated that football in Nigeria will witness a gréat development from the grassroots if other state Football Associations can concentrate on developing the grassroots.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports, the FCT FA supremo said, "I'm not sure if FCT FA can be a model to the NFF but I think we can be a model to the other football association across Nigeria but NFF is our parent.

"We would focus on grassroots while the NFF will be more focused on the Super Eagles and Falcons and dealing with FIFA and CAF, that is higher level, we want to develop our coaches and at the end of our four years we would have developed 100 new coaches male and female, physically challenged, and also to developed 100 new referees, with the mindset that they didn't come with the godfather. By the end of the first four years, we would have contributed to the development of football in Nigeria. If the FCT can produce a huge pool of talents male and female and we have a good league going then I would say we have achieved a lot.

Speaking further on some of the association achievements in the last one year, he says.

"We did a beach soccer tournament at Jabi Lake park and was really interesting and captivating a whole country was watching . We have a lots of media attentions, it was on TV and it was excellent, the FCT had a new team that will form, we Lagos, kwara, Kebbi as a champion and top team in Africa, the FCT got into the final and we lost by a margin to kebbi, we created a lots of awareness, it was massive, even the international body of beach soccer was happy with what we did, at that point also we introduced a new game, it's called teqball, it involved using all part of your body except your hand.

"We have introduced a new innovations to FCT since we came on board.

He however confirmed not receiving the FIFA funds from the NFF.

"Known to my knowledge we've not received any fund or the FIFA fund you've hearing all about, there have been a lot of media attentions about that, of course we have not received any fund and we have not any communication as to how this fund will be distributed, so we are in the dark at the moment regarding the fund.

We have not received any information as regards to any palliative from FIFA or CAF.

He reiterated his commitment to make sure that Super Eagles returns back to Abuja for their home games

"We want to bring Super Eagles back to Abuja and make it their permanent home, there is thought of concession of the stadium to a group of investors so that they can revive it and put it right condition, but whosoever that will get that stadium must be a football person, not somebody that just want build hotels and lounge and charge exorbitantly." He concluded.
