Federation President Turns Coach As National Team Coach Robbed in Lagos

The President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Ighali, stepped in to replace the National female wrestler coach, Purity Akuh, when the coach could not make the trip to Rome following loss of his international passport, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Coach Purity on Tuesday, on his way to Lagos to catch his flight to Rome, the host city of the Matteo Pellicone Wrestling Ranking Series tournament was robbed and all his belongings including his international passport which he was travelling with, were carted away by the robbers.
Knowing that the coach cannot travel without the international passport, the president of the federation, a certified coach, Daniel Ighali, stepped in quickly to replace the coach and filled the vacuum by taking charge to save Nigeria wrestlers from the unforseen embarrassment that might come up during the tournament.
Despite the sudden change, Nigeria's wrestlers did not disappoint as wrestling sensation and two-time Commonwealth champion, Odunayo Adeokuroye won gold in 57kg class, while Blessing Oborududu (68kg) settled for bronze at the event.
Team Nigeria’s performance in Rome will surely come as a cheering news to female head coach Purity Akuh, who could not travel with the wrestlers, as he was robbed of his belongings including his international passport on his way to Lagos for the trip.
