Felix Owolabi Celebrates 3SC Players, Officials That Won Maiden CAF Cup 29 Years Ago By Niyi Busari Ex-Super Eagles winger, Felix Owolabi has celebrated the players and officials of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) who won the maiden edition of CAF Cup on 28 December, 1992. On the second leg of the final, 3SC defeated Nakivubo FC of Uganda 2-0 on aggregate after a goalless draw in Kampala to lift the trophy in front of their home fans at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan. Reacting to the feat, the 1980 African Cup of Nations winner wrote; "Today is another great and memorable day to be remembered in the history of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan. On this day the Club won the First Edition of the CAF CUP Championship donated by the late Chief MKO Abiola who was then the Pillar of Sports in Africa. The day was December 28 1992 (29years) ago. He added, "Shooting Stars on that day defeated Nakivubo FC of Uganda 2-0 in the second leg finals at the Lekan Salami Stadium after a scoreless draw in the first leg in Kampala. I can't forget Shola Akinwale, Tunji Adeyemi, Osusu Azuka, Ugoji, Lateef Yusuf, Adaga, Fawole Ogbein, Moshood and Coach Niyi Akande and few others that I can't remember their names." The CAF Cup has now been renamed CAF Confederation Cup. 3SC one of the most successful team in Africa have won all CAF inter-club organised trophies except the CAF Champions League.
