FIBA names Akhator, 13 others for MVP award

By Admin Evelyn Akhator D’Tigress forward Evelyn Akhator is among the 14 players shortlisted for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup’s Most Valuable Player’s award. The 23-year-old Besiktas of Turkey new signing has featured in Nigeria’s five games totalling 58 points with an average of 14.5 points per game, 10.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Other nominees for the award are Ting Shao (China), Emma Meesseman (Belgium), Breanna Stewart (USA), Liz Cambage (Australia), Sandrine Gruda (France), Astou Ndour (Spain). Tina Charles (USA), EndeneMiyem (France), Brittney Griner (USA), Marta Xargay (Spain), Kim Mestdagh (Belgium), Marine Johannes (France) and Alba Torrens (Spain) complete the list. The winner of the award will be decided by fan votes.
