FIBA Pre-World Cup friendly: D'Tigers wins invitational tournament

Nigeria's D'Tigers continue their impressive runs ahead of the 2019 FIBA men's World Cup as they emerged champion of the PEAK invitational tournament in China.

D'Tigers defeated Montenegro senior national team 89-86 to emerge champions of Peak Invitational tournament in China, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The Nigeria senior men's basketball national team face Montenegro in the final of the tournament after Montenegro defeated Iran in the second semifinal.

The Eastern European side started strongly and dominated the Nigerians, and ended up winning the first half 44 -36.

D'Tigers bounced back strongly in the 3rd quarter and dominated the quarter which ended in 69 -63 in favour of the Nigerians.

Montenegro fought hard in the last quarter but found the Nigeria team hardnut to crack, at the end match D'Tigers finished as winners 89 -86 and emerged winner of the competition.

Next on the agenda for the Alex Nwora led team is the release of final list 12 players that will represent the country at the world cup in China.

Nigeria first match is against Russia on Saturday August 31.
