FIFA club World Cup To Have 24 Participating Teams From 2021 By Sampson Adedeji Federation of international Football Association (FIFA) has agreed to increased the number of clubs taking part in the club world cup. Since inception, 8 team has being taken part in the competition and the world football governing body deemed it fit to increase the number and give adequate representation from each continent. Africa will have 3 teams representing the continent from the new format. The FIFA on Friday announced the new FIFA Club world Cup format (every 4 years) which will start in 2021 24 Clubs Europe 8 South America 6 North America 3 Asia 3 Africa 3 Oceanic 1 Also the FIFA backed the idea of 48 teams in the 2022 world cup. The qualification system for the teams that will representing Africa to be agreed later. No Nigeria team has represented Africa since the start of the tournament.
