FIFA Pays Tribute To Zambian National Team of 1993 By Niyi Busari Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Saturday paid tribute to the Zambian national team of 1993 who were involved and died in plane crash, BSNSports.com.ng can report. The national team on 27th April were on their way in a flight carrying most of the team to a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Senegal before it crashed into Atlantic Ocean. It was reported that all 25 passengers and crews were killed in the crash. FIFA on their official Twitter handle twitted: "Today, we remember the Zambian national team of 1993. On 27 April of that year, a flight carrying most of the team to a FIFA World Cup qualifying match v against Senegal crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. All 25 passengers and five crew members were killed." New national was formed captained by Kalusha Bwalya and surprisingly, were in the final of 1994 African Cup Nations. The team played against Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 1994 African Nations Cup final. The Eagle sweated hard, it took the intervention of Emmanuel Amuneke who came on as a super sub to score two goals in the final for Nigeria.
