FIFA Ranking: Nigeria moves one step down
By Sampson Adedeji
The two draws secured by Nigeria's Super Eagles in the recent international friendly matches counted for little as the team dropped by one step in the latest FIFA ranking, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Despite securing two draws against two better rated countries, Ukraine and Brazil, Super Eagles held Ukraine to a 2-2 draw at the Dnipro Arena in September, before securing another 1-1 against Selecao of Brazil in Singapore in October, yet the two draws failed to lift Nigeria, even as they engaged in Grade A matches.
The latest ranking released on Thursday morning shows that Nigeria now ranked 35th in the World compare to 34th position it occupied in September.
Nigeria garnered 1481 points as against 1482 it recorded in the previous month.
Senegal remained highest Africa side, 20th position, Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in second position and ranked 29th in the world.
