FIFA Slams Egyptian Club With Transfer Ban Over Super Eagles Striker's Debt

Nogoom FC have been banned from signing players due to an outstanding $5, 000 debt they owe Super Eagles and Plateau United striker, Tosin Abraham Omoyele.

According to buwanews.com the Egyptian football club currently plays in the Egyptian Second Division, and have been handed a three-window transfer ban by World football governing body, according to a statement from Erika Montemor Ferreira, FIFA Head of Players Status, revealed on Wednesday June 10, 2020.

“According to the decision passed by Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) judge on 17 January, 2020, Nogoom was asked to provide us with documentary evidence demonstrating that it had compiled with its obligation in accordance with point III.2 of the aforementioned decision.

“In this respect, we have noted that no such documentation has been submitted by Nogoom and consequently, we kindly inform the club, Nogoom, that the ban from registering any new players either nationally or internationally, for the maximum duration of three entire and consecutive registration periods, as established in point III.7, of the above mentioned will become effective as from the start of the next registration period.

“Finally, we would like to draw Nogoom to point III.8 of the relevant decision which establishes that the aforementioned ban will be lifted immediately and prior to its complete serving, once the due amount is paid,” the State concluded.

Omoyele, played on loan to Nogoom last season from Plateau United and the club’s ban will be lifted once the debt totaling $5, 000 is either paid off or restructured.
