FIFA U17 World Cup: We are not under pressure - Tijani

By Sampson Adedeji

With FIFA U17 World Cup kicking off in Saturday in Brazil, the captain of Nigeria's Golden Eaglets Tijani Samson has said that the team is not under any pressure to deliver the 6th title for the country, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

BSN Sports reports that Nigeria's Golden Eaglets holds the record of winning the tournament more than any other country in the world with five titles and there is high hope that these set of players should deliver the trophy for the sixth time.

The Nigeria side stormed Goania the venue of the group B matches on Tuesday and have commenced training ahead of their first match against Hungary on Saturday.

"Our country’s previous success does not place any pressure on our shoulders at all.

“But the world is naturally expecting a great deal from us, and I’m confident that we’ll be able to follow in the footsteps of our predecessors.

Our coaches have so much experience – not just Garba, but also his assistant Nduka Ugbade, who led Nigeria to the title for the first time as captain in 1985. They know exactly what we need to do to finish the tournament as champions," he said.

Nigeria first match will come up on Saturday against Hungary before playing Australia and Ecuador later in the competition.
