Russians in Essentuki, the base camp of the Super Eagles, have assured that the team will not lack support during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
This was revealed by media officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye, in a chat with Kwese ESPN in Essentuki.
Players and officials of the Super Eagles arrived in Essentuki on Monday night to a warm welcome by the locals before heading to their Sanatorium Istochnik Hotel base.
On Tuesday the team had their first training session in front of a sizable crowd.
Commenting about the camp base, Ibitoye said: “It’s amazing, we are still trying to take in the beauty of this place. I’m sure as we get by, because we are going to be here for quite a while, I’m sure we will appreciate this place a lot more as the days go by.
“The team has had a walk around and we love the facilities. I’m sure it’s going to be a good place for us. I’m sure at the end of our stay here, the people would enjoy it.
“They received us well when we came in yesterday (Monday) and they told us they appreciate the fact that we chose this place as our base camp and that they would support us all the way but unless we are playing against Russia and thankfully that would take a while.
“So, we are enjoying the place and I’m sure it will get better and better. First day so good and everything is well and smooth so far.”
