Folarin Balogun Leads Eight Nigerian-born Kids To England Camps

Arsenal of England youngster, Folarin Balogun is at the head of a list of eight Nigerian-born lads that have been invited to various camps of the British nation where they were born, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

While talks linger over the prospects of Nigeria hooking former England under-21 internationals, Ademola Lookman and Ike Ugbo in the coming days, football buffs in the United Kingdom are equally moving fast to hook Balogun and the other seven emergent stars.

Such it is that Balogun, who has been in red-hot form in the English Premier League 2, is leading a total of eight Nigeria-eligible players to England’s youth camps, as he has been included in the roster for a 2023 European U21 Championship qualifier against Czech Republic.

While Balogun looks good to start that game next Thursday at Turf Moor and then feature in a friendly against Georgia five days later, West Ham United’s under-23 team’s captain, Ajibola Alese has been named in the England U20 squad for an international friendly against Portugal.

Similarly, former Arsenal whiz-kid, Daniel Oyegoke, who is now at Brentford, has been invited to England’s under-19 camp alongside Manchester United’s Shola Shoretire, Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka and Glasgow Celtic goalkeeper, Tobi Oluwayemi.

A report by allnigeriasoccer adds: “The quartet could add to their international caps when the Young Lions face off with Andorra, Switzerland and Sweden in UEFA U19 EURO qualifiers.

“England U18s boss Ryan Garry has selected Fulham midfielder Michael Olakigbe and Crystal Palace striker Victor Akinwale in his 24-man squad for a triple-header against Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal.”
