Football: FCT High Court Judge Donates Piece of Land For Grassroots Development By BSN Sports The former FCT High Court Gwagwalada, Justice Mwada Balami (rtd), has donated a piece of land for grassroots development in Gwagwalada Area Council. Balami made the announcement at a dinner and award night organised by Gwagwalada Football coaches Council to honour sports lovers and philanthropists in the area. He used the occasion to appeal to sports enthusiasts to be committed in the area of enhancing development of football and other sporting events in the country, adding that government alone cannot take sports to desired level. Balami told the gathering that he was a football player far back 1968, noted that in 1991 he plotted two football clubs in Gwagwalada aimed at harnessing talents at the grassroots. He expressed happiness on the honour the football council done on him just as he tasked parents to always give their children free hand to participate in sporting activities in Gwagwalada, FCT and Nation at large. Contributing, the Chairman, Gwagwalada FA, Coach Ibrahim Bako, said the essence of the event was to promote football activities in Gwagwalada just as he added that the football council would motivate philanthropists to support grassroots development in Gwagwalada and environs. Also lending their voices, some of the award recipients Patron of Gwagwalada FA, Commander Frank Sule, Coach of Gwagwalada Cadet football Club, Coach Andy Ibrahim and official of Nationwide League one, Olushola Ogunnowo have encouraged the leadership of the council to sustain the laudable it recorded noting that the council has set a pace for others to emulate in the FCT. In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of Gwagwalada Football Coaches Council, Barrister Ayodele T. Justice appreciated the awardees and other philanthropists for their support to the council in Gwagwalada.
