Former DR Congo Star Rules Out Nigeria of Winning 2021 AFCON Title By Sampson Adedeji Former DR Congo international, Gabriel Zakuni has poured cold water in the hope of Nigeria's Super Eagles winning 2021 African Cup Of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The Nigeria side is still on top of group L despite failing to beat Lone Stars of Sierra Leone over the two legs in the match-day 3 and 4 round of the qualifier. Zakuni said allowing the opponents equalizing 4-4 is not a champions stuff and further said Nigeria is not ready to be the next Africa champion. ”At this moment, I don’t quite feel they are ready because champions will not give away four-goal leads, so I don’t expect them to win,” Zakuani told a special edition of the BBC’s Sports Africa TV programme. "I feel like it has come too soon for them to win it. [It’s time] for them to just be there, compete and then push on again," he said. Nigeria currently top Group L on eight points, one ahead of Benin while Sierra Leone have three points and Lesotho two. The first matches later this month sees the Nigerians traveling to Benin while Lesotho host Sierra Leone.
