Former NFF President Commences Construction of 20,000 Capacity Stadium

Driven by unquenchable passion and determination to promote and sustain Nigerian football beyond youth programmes and academy, former Nigeria Football Federation, NFF President, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi has commenced construction of a 20, 000 capacity stadium in Abuja

The stadium construction which started on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 is sited at FOSLA Academy headquarters, Karshi, and is expected to be completed in February, 2020.

The construction firm, SCC Nigeria Limited mobilised to site on Tuesday to begin the first phase of the construction work. 

When completed, the stadium will be home ground to Nationwide League One, NLO new comers, Fosla Football Club, FFC. 

Alhaji Sani Lulu, popularly called "Mr Fix It" was the president of NFF between 2006 and 2010. 

It was under his laudable leadership as the first football man in the country that Nigeria last hosted any FIFA organised competition when the country hosted the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup. 

The 13th edition of the 2009 FIFA World World Cup took place in Nigeria from 24th October to 15 November which Switzerland emerged champions after defeating Nigeria in the final. 

He also ensured that the the Super Eagles of Nigeria returned to global football as they qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa after missing out at the Germany 2006 edition. 

Sani Lulu who late last year, responded to the clarion call by his Kogi State people to be their governor, contested for the governorship ticket of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC but lost to the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello who did not only win the APC ticket but also won the governorship election in November. 

The construction of 20, 000 capacity stadium in Karshi, Abuja is another milestone among several commitment and achievements recorded by Alhaji Sani Lulu who is currently sponsoring over 40 undergraduates who are studying various courses at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
