Former Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, president Ibrahim Galadima explained the need for NFF president Amaju Pinnick and four other federation bigwigs to step aside until investigations are concluded, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

He advised Amaju Pinnick and others to appear in court to clear their names of the charges against them.

BSN reports that President of the federation, Amaju pinnick alongside his vice presidents, Seyi Akinwumi and Shehu Dikko, including his executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf Fresh and general secretary of the NFF, Mohammed Sanusi have been charged for embezzlement of $8.4 million FIFA funds.

The NFF officials will all appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

Galadima, who was NFF president between 2006 and 2010, said the situation on ground is giving the people a lot of concern.

“Now let me start by first of all saying I’m an analog chairman, because now things have gone digital for somebody who has not been part of the system for the past 15 years or so, may not be current of what is happening; but of course the situation is not the best of chance for Nigerian football and in other climes things were being done differently; it is either the anti-graft agency have their facts to go on with what they are doing or the federation itself take a honorable way out, which is to give way for things to work out. Just like we saw the head of service of recent being asked to step aside to allow EFCC continue their investigation”.

He further said “Going to court to clear their names would be ideal to me; because they need to prove they are innocent of the charges made against them because unless you have what to prove you can’t hold them guilty of what they are being accused of. Because what is happening now; is giving the people a lot of concern.”
