Former West Ham Manager Sam Allardyce Front Runner For Stoke City Job
Oghenekharo Etebo club, Stoke City have contacted Sam Allardyce while David Moyes is also in the running to succeed Gary Rowett at the bet365 Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Rowett was sacked on Tuesday morning and the Stoke board say they want to appoint his successor “as swiftly as possible”.
Club patriarch and chairman Peter Coates likes Allardyce and feels the former England boss, who has been out of management since being axed by Everton in May, could do a job at Stoke.
Stoke have approached Big Sam, 64, who won promotion to the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers in 2001 and West Ham in 2012.
Moyes, 55, also has supporters in the boardroom and chief executive Tony Scholes has known him since they worked together at Preston in the Scot’s first managerial job.

Moyes just missed out on leading Preston into the Premier League when he lost the 2001 play-off final to Allardyce’s Bolton.
The former Manchester United , Everton and Sunderland boss has been out of work since leaving West Ham at the end of last season.
Stoke feel they need an experienced manager after the dismal failure of Rowett, who was seen as an up-and-coming coach.
They took the decision to axe Rowett before Saturday’s FA Cup draw with Shrewsbury because they felt his return of just eight wins from 26 Championship matches was not good enough.

The fans had turned on Rowett and one insider claimed the club “did not feel he was the right fit” for Stoke.
Stoke were the Championship’s big spenders in the summer, splashing out nearly £30million in transfers as well as handing Joe Allen improved terms to keep him at the club.
Despite his substantial investment, Stoke are languishing in 14th place, eight points off the top six.

After being the model of a well-run club, Stoke have now sacked three managers in 12 months following Mark Hughes and Paul Lambert’s dismissals.
The Potters board are determined to get their next manager right and appoint someone who can mount a promotion push over the second half of the season.
Potters great Rory Delap, Kevin Russell and Andy Quy will take charge of first-team affairs on a caretaker basis until an appointment is made.
