By Admin France Coach Deschamps Proud Of Team After Tough Win Vs Argentina France coach Didier Deschamps has hailed his team’s fighting spirit in their thrilling 4-3 win against Argentina in the round of 16 of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday. Deschamps side had to come from 2-1 down to eventually win 4-3 after opening the score from the penalty spot by Antoine Griezmann. They were able to hold on despite conceding a late goal in added time by Sergio Aguero to book their place into the quarter-finals. “If I am a coach it is because I want to live this: a full stadium, highly-experienced teams,” the France 1998 World Cup-winning captain said in his post-match press conference. “Our team is much younger, but it’s there. We answered the call, we have a lot of character and it was not easy as we were leading, then there was an equaliser, then we were 2-1 behind, but we kept fighting. “There is an excellent mentality in this group and we did everything to go further. Since I am responsible for everything, particularly when it doesn’t go well I’m very proud. I’m very happy for them because they have been preparing themselves for weeks and months. We couldn’t miss it and we didn’t miss it.”
