Frank Onyeka Set To Dump FC Midtjylland In Summer Transfer Window

FC Midtjylland of Denmark fast-rising midfielder, Frank Onyeka appears set to leave the club his summer, following a revelation by a director of the Scandinavian team, Claus Steinlein, who has come out with details of their plans with the player, BSNSport.com.ng reports. Steinlein surprisingly conceded that FCM have a gentleman’s agreement in place with Onyeka, the terms of which will allow the Super Eagles’ rookie leave at the end of this season, but the club will make a profit from his departure, as he would only be sold for his current market value in the summer transfer window. The Midtjylland director, however, pointed out that it is an agreement that should be seen as fair to both parties, as the one-cap Nigeria international was close to leaving the Danish League champions last summer. Onyeka was prevailed on back then to stay put, especially after The Wolves qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, in which he went on to get his debut in grand style, but is now bound to move on with that mission done and dusted. Consequently, the countdown is now on for the next port of call for Onyeka, who extended his contract with Midtjylland in 2019, and is widely regarded as one of the top holding midfielders of the moment in Denmark; with his pedigree receiving a massive boost after he started all of his club’s six matches in the group stage of this season’s Champions League. It means 2021 is bound to be a defining year for the youngster, who got his full debut for the Super Eagles and reached a 100-game milestone for his club in 2020, but Steinlein added that they hope Onyeka will leave on a high, by winning he league title and FA Cup with the club in the ongoing season. “We have made an agreement with him that he will leave in the summer of 2021. We have a longer agreement with him but gave him a salary increase recently because he has earned it based on his performance. “The plan is for him to win the (League and Cup) double with FC Midtjylland this spring, and then he will go to Europe, while others will fill in the big shoes he leaves behind in FC Midtjylland,” Steinlein told Tipsbladet.
