Gbenga Ogunbote Signs One-year Contract With Sunshine Stars

Sunshine Stars communicate that Olugbenga Ogunbote, 'The Oracle' has signed a renewable one year contract on Tuesday to start a second spell with the Club as coach from the 2020/21 season.

Ogunbote shortly after signing the dotted line was presented to the media and other stakeholders at the conference room of the Ondo State Football Agency's Caring Heart Games Village office.

The coach and Club President, Otunba Tajudeen Akinyemi speech and responses touched on team's target, the style of play and unity of purpose during the ceremony and a session with the Sports Writers. Their words were transcribed by Sunshine Stars FC' Media.

"I thank everyone that made this return possible. My philosophy is beauty in the game and success, hence I want result everywhere I go and the good thing here is that the standard is already there; we must work on it and aim even higher than before as anything below is not possible.

"We must repeat and double up on what we did in the past to achieve our goals; unity of purpose from all stakeholders: The management, Government, State Assembly, the FA, Supporters and others. I am happy to be back!"

Also speaking, Club President, Tajudeen Akinyemi who believe and expect Ogunbote to return the team to the continent.
"The Oracle you are welcome back. Will call you because we want to achieve results, your pedigree and records is enviable and comes with guarantee. Together we will return to the continental. Myself, the director (Prince Ojunja) will work to provide all your need and assitance.

"I use this medium to also thank the Aketi-led government for thier supports, State Assembly, House Committee on Sports whose Chairman Dr Faleye and member, Omole honoured our invitation to be here. I thank the FA Chairman, Otunba Ajayi, Media, Supporters and other stakeholders present you are highly appreciated."

Ogunbote guided Sunshine Stars to back-to-back semi-final appearance in the 2012 and 2013 CAF Confederation Cup/Champions League and narrowly missed out on winning on what would have been a first league tittle for Akure landlords in 2011.
