Golden Eaglets in Turkey for exposure – Manu By Amaechi Agbo Coach of five-time world U-17 champions, Manu Garba has disclosed that Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are in Turkey UEFA Assist U-17 Tournament for exposure ahead of the Africa Cup Nations U-17 championship scheduled for Tanzania this year, Bsnsports can report. Coach Garba who spoke exclusively with Bsnsports said that the trialists in camp are not part of the team that left for Turkey on Saturday and lamented that the loss of first-choice right back Oluwatimilehin Lawrence Adeniyi to injury is regrettable. The coach spoke after his lads whitewashed their opponents, Ambassador Academy Lagos 10-0, with the old players used in the first half which ended 3-0 while the new players in camp were used in the second half. “The main reason we are going to Turkey is to expose the boys and also have an idea on how our opponents are going to play. It will help us to study them and be able to know how we will play them by the time we go to Tanzania. “The tourney is not a disadvantage because the teams will watch one another. Everybody will map out his own strategy against the opposing team but we are at advantage because a lot of good boys we have in the camp that may make the team to Tanzania are not going there. So in that circumstance, it is an added advantage to us,” Manu said. ''On Adeniyi’s injury, everybody thought it was bad from the reckless tackle. I believe it's an injury that touched the tibia. ''But according to the medical director, he said the boy is lucky. It will take him very few weeks for him to recover. We will probably have him for the Nations Cup,” Manu told Bestchoicesports. Adeniyi, who was Nigeria's youngest outfield player in the WAFU-UFOA Zone B qualifiers, started all the four matches in Niger, scoring in the 5-1 rout of Ivory Coast. The Golden Eaglets will begin their campaign at the UEFA Assist U17 International Tournament against Senegal on March 5 before facing Montenegro (March 7) and Angola (March 9).
