Governor Obiano Lacks The Power To Extend Anambra FA Election - Ifeanyi Ubah

Chairman, Anambra State Football Association, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has said that the state governor lacked the power to extend state FA tenure adding that it is against the statute guiding football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Anambra State Football Association election was scheduled to hold next Monday 27th July 2020 but may not hold as the state governor was quoted to have extended the date due to rampaging Covid-19.
The proprietor, FC Ifeanyi Ubah in exclusive interview with BSN Sports on Saturday morning said; "The governor does not has the power to extend the FA tenure elongation. This morning (Saturday), he said he doesn't want the FA election to hold because of rampaging Covid-19.
He questioned the rationale behind extension of the election date that will have less than 50 people while markets and religious places which have more population are declared opened by the governor.
"The same governor declared markets opened, allowed religious gathering, so, why is the FA election that will not have up to 50 different?
"I am going to make my position known to Nigerians soon. The FA election is not a constitutional issue."
Meanwhile, the electoral committee on Tuesday through a statement made available to BSN Sports announced that the election will hold on next Tuesday,the statement reads in part; "Anambra State Football Association Electoral Committee headed by Jude Anyadufu made public the date for the FA Board and Local Football Council Elections.
According to the Head, Media and Publicity of the Committee, Rev. Obinna Dike, the Board election holds on Monday, 27th July 2020 while that of Local Council will hold on Tuesday, 28th July 2020.
"The election is scheduled to hold at the Archbishop Obiefuna Retreat and Pastoral Center Okpuno, Awka, Anambra state"
