Greek Cup: Ideye fires Aris to victory over Xianthi FC

One time Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye continue to knock the door of the national team with his performance in the Greek League and cup competitions.

Ideye who has played for West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League and Olympiakos of Greece was out of action for some period of time due to injuries who pegged him back.

After his recuperation, he joined the Greek Elite division side Aris Thessaloniki and has become an household name with the club.

He proved vital again on Wednesday as he netted the only goal of the game in Aris Thessaloniki 1-0 win over Xianthi FC in the Greek Cup round of 16 first leg.

It was Ideye’s seventh goal in 20 appearances in all competitions for Aris Thessaloniki this season.

The return leg will see Aris Thessaloniki host Xanthi on January 14, with the winner advancing into the quarter-finals.
