Green Canvass For The Inclusion Of Home Based Players In Eagles

By Sampson Adedeji

The debates for the inclusion of the home based players in the Super Eagles continued as former chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation technical committe Barrister Chris Green joined the debates.

Many football stakeholders in the country has been urging the Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr to give the home based players an opportunity to fight for shirts in the national team, BSN Reports.

Barr, Green in his submission believed the local player can actually live up to expectation if they are allowed to represent the country.

" I don't really know what the problem is with Mr Gernot Rohr and our home based players unless we are looking for a shortcut to winning trophies then we will be looking for ready made materials then we relied on the foreign based and I don't even think the foreign based are ready made.

"They are all professionals those players at home are also professional, Westrrhoff came and built his camp in Nigeria and produced these players that became World stars and added few stars from Europe.

"If Mr Stephen Keshi can do the same thing by mixing just few players from Nigerian league, so I don't know his problem with those playing at home.

"In fact I will be so angry if am the headship of the local league and you are telling me that you cannot get players from the local league, is an insults to us .

"It means we have gone to bottomless pit and our players are not progressing but that is not the truth, let him try it and see, if he will not get players that will give those of them coming from Europe a run for their money, our boys are rugged and talented .

"If given the same environment and conditions, I believe they will perform better," he concluded.

The Nigeria Football Federation included in the new contract of the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to stay in Nigeria to monitor the home based players in their respective clubs so that he can invited best among them to Super Eagles.
