Youth Players Invade Gwagwalada For Odogwu U-17 Cup Screening

Youth players in Gwagwalada, FCT and its environs on Saturday throng the area for the screening of the Odogwu U.17 Football Cup Competition holding in early next year in the Area council.

The tournament is sponsored by the Sporting Director of Abia Warriors Patrick Ngwaogu, as a way of discovering talented youths from the area that will be supported to further their career in the game.

According to the LOC Chairman Thompson Ojukwu, over 500 players took part in the screening exercise which was conducted by a National U.15 Coach Patrick Bassey among others. "we know the concept of the donor, and are determined to do exactly what we wants. The players selected are within the stipulated age". Ojukwu stated further that due to strictness of the screening exercise, some clubs that could not meet up were disqualified. He concluded that the tournament will begin immediately after the festivities in the new year.

Patrick Ngwaogu was the Leader of the Gwagwalada Football Coaches, Public Relations Officer, FCT Football Coaches Association, Secretary FCT Football Coaches Association and First Vice Chairman of FCT Football Association. He facilitated scholarship to over 20 football players from Gwagwalada to Fosla Academy, where he is the Board Secretary.
