HFN Expresses Shock Over Death of Board Member Ahmed Abubakar

The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) have expressed shock over the death of a board member Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Mohammed.
Ahmed Mohammed, who was the chairman of the Kaduna State Handball Association, passed away on Friday at 44 Military Hospital in Kaduna after a brief illness and was buried according Islamic rites.
Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria Alhaji Maigidasanma Mohammed who announced the unfortunate incident lamented that Alhaji Ahmed's death have left a vacuum in handball family as he was one of those instrumental to the revival of the sport from its near comatose state to a the relevance been enjoyed at the moment under the Sam Ocheho led board of the HFN.
"Inna lillahi wa'inna ilaihi raji'un. I hereby announce the death of a friend and a brother Mallam ABUBAKAR Ahmed Mohammed after a brief illness.
He left behind his Mother, wife and children Bothers and Sisters.
May Almighty Allah gives the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, forgive his trespasses, grant him eternal rest and, make Jannatul firdaus his final place of abode. Ameen"
The President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Samuel Ocheho who bemoaned the death of Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, said he was one of the vibrant members who was responsible for the growth of handball in the country and believe that the vacuum he has left on account of his death would be difficult to fill.
"Alhaji Abubakar was one of the vibrant members of the board as he had been responsible for uplifting handball in Kaduna and the nation in general" Ocheho said.
"He was the brain behind the Banjoko premier handball league and some regional under age championship hosted in Kaduna.
He was instrumental in convincing the state Govt to host the National Division One Championship in Kaduna last year.
He has left a vacuum in handball that will be difficult to fill. We will surely miss him" Ocheho concluded
Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Mohammed, who is from Adamawa State, was born and brought up in Kaduna State.
He had his National Diploma and Higher National Diploma at the Kaduna State Polytechnic.
Until his death he was the chairman of the Kaduna State Handball Association where he changed the face the sport to one enjoying patronage as it was evident in the National Under 18/21 Handball Championship which held in 2019.
He was also a board member of the HFN under the digital president, Sam Ocheho led board wherein he chaired the dynamic Marketing and Sponsorships Committee.
He was the regional Manager of NIPCO.
