Nigeria will remain among the list of countries considered to have the highest doping risk to athletics until the end of 2021, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has announced, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Seven countries now feature in Category A, which the AIU Board considers having the highest risk level.
Bahrain, Belarus, Ethiopia, Kenya and Ukraine featured in the category in 2019 while Morocco and Nigeria were added early this year.
In a letter Ref: AIU Notification of 2021 Category status and requirements under World Athletics Anti-Doping Rule 15 sent to the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) seen by Complete Sports, the AIU says the Covid-19 pandemic, which has disrupted athletics programmes across the globe this year, will not make a proper assessment of how countries have complied with Rule 15 possible.
