Former Director General of defunct National Sports Commission, Honorable Gbenga Elegbeleye has identified one of the greatest problems facing Nigerian sports.

The former member of CAF Disciplinary committee revealed that the chase of medals at the international competitions is one of the biggest problems Nigeria sports is facing.

Elegbeleye who spoke exclusively with www.bsnsports.com.ng revealed that it is a misplaced priority to chase medals in international competitions and neglect development of sports at the grassroots level.

The House of Representative member advised Federation Presidents to focus on grassroots development if they want to bring back the glory days to the country.

"If federation presidents should focus on grassroots development by organizing local and national competitions there is no how they will not discover talents who will win medals in international tournaments. But they neglect talent discovery and chase international honour.

"That is misplaced of priority which will have a negative effect on sports development as well laurels won in the long run."
