Aside Nigeria Para-powerlifting Federation that won four (4) gold and two silver medals, no other federation performed better than the Nigerian Wrestling Federation at the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Australia where the federation won 3 gold 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Blessing Oborodudu, a gold medalist 68kg wrestler revealed that the defeat she suffered from an Indian female wrestler at the Commonwealth champions last December spurred her on to win gold at the just concluded 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
In an exclusive interview with BSN Sports on Wednesday 18th April, shortly after her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport Abuja from Australia, she stated that: "I was hurt when i lost to an Indian wrestler at the Commonwealth championship in December, so when i met another Indian in the semi final of the just concluded Commonwealth games i know i have to double my efforts in other to defeat her. Deep inside me, i knew it will be a big task, so i train harder but to my surprise i beat her 10-0."
She appealed that the federation should organise more international tournaments to expose them to different opponent's style of fight and most importantly to increase their confidence."
