How NPFL Players Can Break Into Super Eagles - Toyin Ibitoye By Niyi Busari Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye has said that the best player in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, must stay put and be consistent in the league for more than three seasons to break into the Super Eagles, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Ibitoye while explaining that failure to tie down the best player in the league is a major reason why it is difficult to invite NPFL players to the Nigeria senior national team's camp. "We have to tell ourselves the truth, our players in the NPFL or the best player in the league hardly spend two or three seasons before they travel. So, look back from 7 years ago when you are the best player in NPFL, the next season you are out. He however, said improvement on players' welfare, training facilities and conducive environment will help encourage domestic league players stay back for many years. "And if you want the coach to keep inviting our best players for the National team, then we have to find a way of keeping our best players in the league and that means improving the welfare, environment, training facilities and entire package around the league make it very conducive for these star players to remain, then you can see player playing in the league and also national team for many years. "Right from the time of Gbolahan Salami and co you play well in the league next season you are gone, like Egbuchulam, Nwobodo, Alhassan, it's difficult to now tell the coach that our best league player is outside and to call those who is not as good as they are but still in the league even if you call those ones after 3 or 4 days they are also gone, so the coach will keep call fresh sets of players all the time, you can't build a team that way, those are the challenges we have with players playing in the league." He concluded. Super Eagles will in the next FIFA window play against Algeria and Tunisia on 9th and 13th respectively. The two international friendly matches are scheduled for Austria.
